Craftsy Block of the Month - Chocolate and Turquoise

Fun, fast and easy! Amy Gibson demonstrated via video the Craftsy January Blocks of the Month - The Asterik and the Wonky Pound Sign. Here are my rendition of them using fat quarters from my local quilt shop. Each block is 12 1/2" square.

I started my morning by working on my first Redwork Winter Twitterings Block by a cozy fire. It was too cold to do anything else. He is such a cutie - don't you think? The quilt pattern has various whimsical pictures of different sizes. Now I have something to work on while sitting in front to the television. I just need to keep my hands busy!

I added a couple of beads to jazz up the prairie points!

Stay warm!

I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

  2. Joanie, I'm so pleased to see that you are doing the Craftsy blocks in those (gorgeous) traditional fabrics. I've been hesitating to jump in because I'm not a fan of the modern, large-print, brights. I thought that the blocks wouldn't look good in the fabrics I prefer, but you've proven me wrong. Thanks!

  3. Thank you for liking my choice of fabric. I chose my fabric because I wanted to expand from my typical colors and because my local quilt store stated aqua and chocolate are the "in" colors for this season. I am a traditionalist at heart but yet I am wanting to do some modern quilts too! The only thing is that there is not a single room in my house that is modern and my family members are more on the traditional side as well. I am going to have to work at getting more modern. :)

  4. Joanie, love the red work so far, cannot wait to see it when you decide it is finished. The turquoise and brown blocks are lovely, I have a few fabrics with those colors, but not something I gravitate to and I can see why you want to extend your color choices. What are you planning for these blocks and how many are you making? I have such a difficult time leaving my comfort zone, LOL.
You need to contact me, I still owe you a FQ, remember?
