Late to bed and early to rise, and with a purposeful mind to finish this block today has been completed in record time. Well that is for me since the previous blocks took at least 3-4 days or more.
My key motivator was rereading Mdm Samm's at Sew We Quilt piece on timers and how she gets stuff done. Here is part 1 out of 3 if you are interested.
Did you read it?
If you took a moment to do so you found out that she ends every evening listing 3 things she wants to complete the next day. Also she works in 23 minute intervals on a single project. Well I am whooping it up because not only did I complete the block I also completed the other 2 things on my list in addition to sweeping my whole house and cleaning the kitchen appliances that were not on my list. I even went to church and breakfast with my hubby this morning.
Do you recognize what these are?
Let me tell you a little bit about them. Years ago I made many of these parts that go to a whole. They were taken to craft fairs, on the shelves of an arts and craft store, given to family members, and gifted to a couple of exchange students. I have all the notions and other pieces some waiting to be washed after being stored for many years.
Have you figured out what they are?
If you said Raggedy Ann and Andy legs and arms you were correct.
Do you know if they are desirable with the young of today and worth my time to complete them?
Today I am linking up with the following linky parties. Hope to see you there.
Look at those perfect little feathers on that lovely Dresden block! Way to go!!
ReplyDeleteYou are getting so much done! I'm envious. Will have to read that piece on timers. I need all the help I can get! Your block is perfect! Love the feather!
ReplyDeleteSetting those 3 goals for the next day really does work. I become focused and less distracted with other things.
DeleteI loved my raggedy Ann doll as a child. She had "I love you" written over her heart:)
ReplyDeleteI embroider the heart with I love you on mine too!
DeleteThe quilt is looking lovely great job and the fabrics are great together:)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful and Madame Samm has some great tips for time management! Thanks for sharing.

I must say that I get things done in 10-15-30 minute intervals. I get so much done on my lunch hours from work that It amazes even me! I think the key is persistence. "Its not what you do once in a while it's what you do every day." Not sure where that came from but it sticks with me. The dolls. I think that if you make them modern and use contemporary fabrics and themes they will be a hit. I have seen them at shows still. What does the trends on Google show? I will have to look now!!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that helps to get it done is writing it down. I purchased modern fabric for the Raggedy's clothes yesterday - so I'm thinking great minds think alike!
DeleteI actually searched on Pinterest to see if there were any Raggedy's out there and yes there is!
DeleteI think those Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls should be revisited by the youth of today. If they don't embrace them, they won't know what they are missing!
ReplyDeleteThey just might be embraced today with the influx of stay at home moms who want to raise their children but yet are so savvy to create at home businesses. I see a lot of these moms making clothes for their children and themselves. It is so refreshing to see this resurgence.
DeleteLove the dresden plate block, the colors are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJoanie...this is my first visit to your blog and I found you to be so very charming, kind and sincere! I added you to my people who inspire me blog list! Stop by!
